As the voice of FAMU, it is our responsibility to tell the story of those who have not been compensated for the hours they've labored for this prestigious University.

Our strike is not an official strike but a moral strike, a protest. If our strike was official, there would not be a publication today.

We are not fighting solely for ourselves but for every employee whose voice cannot be heard. Graduate assistants, adjunct professors, student government and anyone else who's a part of OPS should receive what's owed to them.

We are not attacking Castell Bryant. We understand that she is not the cause of this problem. But what steps are being taken to rectify the situation.

The staff was told we would receive on-demand pay on Wednesday or Thursday.

Unfortunately promises such as this have been made in the past and have not been kept. And as of print, the staff still has not received the full amount due to us.

On-demand is a nice gesture, but it's like putting a band-aid on a cut. You may temporarily stop the bleeding, but the wound is still open.

We have no intention of embarrassing the University with this negative press, but we must do our job as journalists and not only tell the story, but record history accurately.

We truly do love FAMU with all of our hearts. But as one of our editors said, if your spouse abused you, would you stay with them?
